About hemming

We offer a free hemming service for jeans and bottoms purchased at our store (excluding some products).
Jeans are repaired using a chain stitch on a Union Special sewing machine specially designed for hemming jeans.

*Finishing method will conform to genuine product specifications.
*There are some cases where hemming services are not free, such as sale items.

If you would like to have your pants hemmed at the time of purchase

When purchasing, please select the inseam size closest to your desired length.
We will hem the pants to that length before shipping them to you.

*For hemming other than that shown, please specify the inseam length in the comments section and enter the desired inseam length. However, please note that we cannot accept requests for lengths less than 1 cm.
*You cannot specify a dimension longer than the inseam dimension of the product.
When purchasing, please check the length and make sure it is specified as a length shorter than the product dimensions.

If you would like to have your pants hemmed after purchase

If you would like to have your pants hemmed after purchase, you can request this at a later date.

STEP.1

Please wash any pants you are currently wearing.
Please make sure they are completely dry before ordering.
If they are in new condition, there is no need to wash them.

STEP.2

Please specify the hem position using method ① or ②.

①Specify inseam measurement
Please refer to "How to measure inseam" and specify your length.
When returning the item, please enclose a note stating the length you specified.

② Designation using safety pins or clips
Fold the right leg of your jeans over so that you can see where you want the hemming to be, and secure it with a safety pin or clip.

*If you would like different lengths for the left and right sides, please clearly fix them so that the finished positions on both sides are clear and enclose a note.

STEP.3

Please send it to our online shop (address below).
Please send it with postage prepaid. (※The customer will be responsible for the postage when returning the item.)

*If you purchase a product and have it hemmed at a later date, you will be responsible for the shipping costs when returning it.
*If you send the item by cash on delivery, we will charge you the shipping fee.

Once your jeans arrive at our store, we will hem them at the designated location. The hemming process will be completed within 5-7 business days.
Once hemming is complete, we will return them to you at our expense.

How to measure inseam

When specifying the inseam measurement when ordering, please refer to the measurement method below to specify the length.

If you would like to match the product with bottoms you already own, please prepare a pair of bottoms that are as close as possible to the product you are purchasing and measure them.
If you would like to check the inseam measurement of a product you have purchased in the past, please check your past purchase details, or if you are a member, please check the inseam measurement from the product information in the "Order History" section of your My Page.

*Only online shop history will be saved.

Inseam measurement position

Measure from the base of the crotch seam (not from the stitching).

About the finish

The finished product will be altered to match the stitching of the original item.

*We do not hem skirts or provide special processing.

Jeans: Finished with chain stitching.

*Jeans may shrink vertically over time. Therefore, we will take into account the shrinkage in the desired position during the finishing process. Therefore, there is no need for you to take shrinkage into consideration.

-Chinos and bottoms: Single stitch finish.

Finishing your distressed jeans

When hemming distressed jeans, the distressed areas will be cut off. If you are hemming by only 1-2cm, we recommend leaving the hems as they are and enjoying the texture of the distressed look.

Finishing your chino bottoms

Due to the design of the hem, the threads will need to be untied before the alteration can take place. If you would like the hem shortened by 2-4cm, the needle marks left by the untied threads may be visible.

*When finishing, use an iron or other tool to make the marks less noticeable.

Precautions

  • We cannot accept returns or exchanges on hemmed items. Please make sure to check the size and length carefully before ordering.
  • Please note that the hem length may not be the perfect length and there may be some slight deviations.
  • When specifying hem shortening measurements, please refrain from specifying hem shortening in increments of less than 1 cm.
  • If you would like your pants hemmed at the time of your order, it will take an additional 1 business day from the usual estimated delivery time. If the order falls on a weekend or public holiday, it will be processed from the next business day. If you would like your pants hemmed at a later date, it will be shipped within 2-3 days after the item arrives at our store.

Regarding hemming jeans purchased at another store

You can also have your jeans hemmed on this website if you have purchased them at any of Japan Blue's directly managed stores. We can also hem your jeans if you bring them to a directly managed store, so please show us the email screen of your purchase details.
For jeans purchased at a store other than Japan Blue Co., Ltd. directly managed stores, please first consult with the store where you purchased them.

  • We do not accept hemming of other manufacturers' products.
  • After finishing, the garment will be shipped cash on delivery, so the customer will be responsible for the hemming fee + shipping fee + cash on delivery fee.

Regarding hemming of sale items and lucky bag items

  • Sale items can be hemmed for a fee.
  • The hemming fee is 2,000 yen (excluding tax) per pair of pants.
  • After finishing, the garment will be shipped cash on delivery, and the customer will be responsible for the hemming fee, shipping fee, and cash on delivery fee.

For first-time customers

If you are purchasing our jeans for the first time, we strongly recommend that you purchase them without having the hems altered so that you can check the fit.

  • We cannot accept any returns or exchanges for jeans that have been hemmed. Thank you for your understanding and consideration.
  • The waist size of jeans will change depending on the rise. Please compare with the jeans you already own and make a careful decision before purchasing.
